The previous owner of local.ly, Hadi Naser of Libyan Spider owns several hundred premium .ly domains. His company also runs a brokerage domains.ly listing hundred other catchy .ly domain names.

The legal and technical advisor on the seller’s side was London-based agency Brands-and-Jingles.

Previous public sale in .ly zone comprised of names such as a.ly, active.ly, and er.ly. Back in 2010 Libyan Spider also sold dai.ly for USD 17,000.00 to French video service Daily Motion.

However, we are now implementing a dedicated DNS server to provide this service free to our LY domain customers.

This FREE DNS management service enables you to add A, AAAA, SNAME, MX, NS, TXT and URL records as well as one click Google App integration.

As part of our continuing efforts to improve our services we are also implementing a redundant cluster of name servers. This will allow us to provide a more robust and reliable DNS hosting service.

To take advantage of this DNS service with your LY domain(s) simply add the following name servers to your domains:

This will then allow you to edit the DNS records via the control panel.

A big thank you to everyone who supported us during this time.

Twenty four of our dedicated servers are now back online. Unfortunately, there was one server that was lost during this process. We have been informed by Softlayer that this was due to the failure of the primary drive.  Over 400 websites were on that server and we are working hard to restore the backup.

For those who use our dedicated name servers for .ly domains, we have two DNS servers for DNS management.  At this time one of the DNS servers seems to be working with one still giving us issues. We should hopefully have this problem resolved shortly.

If you are facing a problem with your DNS, please check your Name Server here: http://nic.ly/whois.php.
Please make sure that you have named all the four servers as listed below:

ns2.libyanspider.com
ns3.libyanspider.com
ns4.libyanspider.com

If for some reason, you find that you have only two name servers listed, please open a ticket.  Make sure to add your domain name(s) to the ticket, so we can have this rectified for you as soon as possible.
