.LY Domain Name Renewal Policy Announcement

Libyan Spider Network, an authorized reseller of the .LY domain name from Libyan Telecom & Technology, the accredited .LY Registrar (see Libya Telecom and Technology), would like to inform previous .LY domain holders of developments regarding renewals of expired domains registered through Lydomains.com, renewal pricing, procedures in reacquiring expired domains, and new regulations set by NIC.LY, the top level .LY Domain Registry, concerning naming of domains.

For more information on these regulations, please see Regulations. and Announcements to Current owners of .LY domains seeking renewal of their domains and .LY domains which expired after April 2004, when the .LY top level Registrar was changed from Lydomains.com to NIC.ly and the General Post and Telecommunications Company, can renew their domains at the price of 50 USD/year.

The deadline for renewing expired domain names at the previously paid price of 50 USD/year will be Jan.1.2008, after this date, if owners of expired domain names fail to pay the complete registration fees, then the domain names will be made free to public.

Owners of expired.LY Domains registered through Lydomains.com are thus strongly encouraged to take advantage of the pricing announcement and renew their domains, renewals of .LY domains can be processed online via the Libyan Spider Website with your credit card, Click Here.

Eligibility for the reduced pricing of renewals of .LY domains bought through LyDomains.com and renewal of expired domains registered through the same will require evidence of previous ownership, including using the same e-mail, telephone, fax and other contact details as provided on previously registered domains.

Any .LY domain names may be registered, except domains containing obscene and indecent names/phrases, including words of a sexual nature; furthermore domain names may not contain words/phrases or abbreviations insulting religion or politics, or be related to gambling and lottery industry or be contrary to Libyan law or Islamic morality. Please note that while domain names falling under the obscene category may be registered, it will be canceled within two weeks by the Registrar.
