Listing of the main Internet DNS/IP/domain organizations:

RIPE - Réseaux IP Européens. The organization that assigns IP addresses for Europe, The Middle East, The North of Africa and parts of Asia.

APNIC - Asia Pacific Network Information Center. The organization that assigns IP addresses for the Asia Pacific region.

ARIN - American Registry for Internet Numbers. The non-profit organization that assigns IP addresses for North and South America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa.

IANA - Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. Keeps track of all TLDs (Top Level Domains), IP address assignments, and protocol assignments.

ICANN - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This non-profit private-sector corporation ensures that domain names, IPs, and ports are all unique, and coordinates the operation of the root servers. InterNIC - The Internet's Network Information Center.

LACNIC - The Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry ("Network Information Center"). The organization that assigns IP addresses for the Latin American and Caribbean regions.

W3C - The World Wide Web Consortium. Designed to lead the World Wide Web to its full potential.

RFC Editor - The publisher of the RFCs, or the 'Rules of the Internet'.

ISOC - The Internet Society. Addresses issues confronting the future of the Internet.

IETF - The Internet Engineering Task Force. Essentially the group that creates the RFCs and related documents.

Public Interest Registry (PIR) - The organization that handles the .org TLD.
