How to Switch your Email Client from Port 25 to Port 465 – Android Mail

This article will show you how to configure your email client to use port 465 for outgoing emails, as well as how to configure SSL encryption for outgoing and incoming messages.

To switch your Email Client from Port 25 to Port 465 please follow these steps:

Step One

Access “Email” application on your Android device.
Access your Android Email App
From the app Menu click Settings.
from Menu choose Settings

Note If you have more than one account configured in your Mail client you will have to follow this guide and change settings for each one.

Note Depending on your Android phone you might have different user interface, but it is the same steps nonetheless.

Step Two

Choose the account you would like to reconfigure.

Step Three

Look for Server settings in configurations list and click Incoming settings
click Incoming Settings

In Incoming settings make sure the following configurations are used:

  • Server: mail.yourdomain (eg: mail.lsdemo.net)
  • Port: 993 (If you are using IMAP server) or 995 (If you are using POP3 server).
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS(Accept all certificate).
  • Click Done.

Click on Outgoing settings
Click Outgoing Settings

In Outgoing settings make sure the following configurations are used:

  • SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain (eg: mail.lsdemo.net)
  • Port: 465
  • Security Type: SSL/TLS(Accept all certificate).
  • Click Done.

Warning If you misconfigure Step Three or Four your account will not be able to send or receive emails

Please test if you can send and receive emails correctly.
